perspectives photography by maureen lingle

Over the past few years photography has become my obsession. You'll rarely find me without my camera bag...it now conveniently doubles as my purse. I originally bought my camera to photograph my teenage boys (seen at left) playing ice hockey and since then I've started taking pictures of practically everything.

At present, my images are mostly of our local HS and college sports teams, the Carolina Hurricanes (huge fan!), nature, and decaying old buildings/barns. I love the images I get from abandoned places. They have an innate story that pulls me in.

Candid images of people going about their day, children playing, or families in their natural habitat is the way I prefer to photograph people (which is probably why I get such a thrill from shooting sports). In conventional portrait photography, the camera tends to make people tense up and become self-conscious. Posed portraits seem to lack the spontaneity and humanness that compels the viewer to stop and look. I find the most beautiful images are captured in those quiet moments when our guard is down and we think no one is watching.

If you are interested in getting some fun candid images of yourself and/or family and live in the Raleigh, NC area, please drop me a note through my 'contact' link. I am available to discuss any needs you may have.

Take a look at my Portfolio (link at top) for examples of my work.

Let me take care of photographing your child's special event so you can be free to enjoy the day without missing a moment.  Or have me come to your child's game to focus only on him/her playing their favorite sport. I'll get you those action shots you've always wanted so you and your family will have them to enjoy for a lifetime.

Life is all about finding your passion; do what you love and in the end it will show.
